Purpose of the role

Develop and maintain the organization's digital systems and applications, automate procedures and workflows, and connect programs and platforms to raise efficiency, reduce manual work, and improve data accuracy and speed of delivery.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Analyze institutional needs and turn them into practical, maintainable software solutions.
  • Develop and maintain web applications and internal systems, and monitor their performance regularly.
  • Automate repetitive procedures and cross-department workflows to reduce manual effort and errors.
  • Connect systems and platforms using APIs and webhooks.
  • Design and organize databases, run queries, and prepare required reports.
  • Detect and fix software defects, test solutions, and improve system performance.
  • Document systems, code, and technical procedures clearly and consistently.
  • Provide technical support and basic user training when needed.
  • Use AI tools in software development and productivity, while protecting data security and privacy.

Education and professional experience

  • A university degree in software engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Practical experience or clear software projects, preferably one to three years.
  • A portfolio of previous work that can be reviewed, such as GitHub repositories or implemented systems and applications.

Core technical skills

  • Strong command of at least one primary programming language, such as JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, or C#.
  • Good knowledge of web development fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
  • A solid understanding of REST APIs, JSON data exchange, and system integration.
  • Knowledge of Git and GitHub, or a similar version-control system.
  • Ability to read, test, and improve existing code, and to write clear maintainable code.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems, research suitable solutions, and apply them safely.

Automation and AI skills

  • Experience with at least one automation tool, such as n8n, Make, Zapier, or Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Ability to design automated workflows with conditions, notifications, and data transfer across systems.
  • Practical use of AI tools to support coding, analysis, documentation, and productivity.
  • A basic understanding of integrating AI services and language models with software systems when needed.
  • A commitment not to share sensitive data with external tools without authorization, and to follow privacy and information-security policies.

Personal and professional skills

  • Effective communication, teamwork, and coordination with non-technical departments.
  • Time management, meeting deadlines, setting priorities, and following tasks through to completion.
  • Self-learning and continuously following new technologies and tools.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to the confidentiality of institutional data.

Preferred additional strengths

  • Experience with a framework such as Laravel, Django, FastAPI, Node.js, or React.
  • Knowledge of Linux, Docker, cloud services, and basic deployment practices.
  • Experience preparing reports, dashboards, and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity basics, database protection, and user-permission management.
  • Previous experience building administrative, financial, project-management, or HR systems.

Selection criteria

  • Quality of previous projects and the candidate's ability to explain their role and technical decisions.
  • Ability to complete a short practical test covering programming thinking, data handling, and automation.
  • Understanding of database fundamentals, APIs, information security, and error handling.
  • Ability to learn, communicate, and turn an administrative need into a clear technical solution.

Note: Mastery of every programming language is not required. What matters most is strong command of one primary language, solid fundamentals, and the ability to learn and integrate systems.
